Village Creek Church 


River Ministry-   
as an alternative to a traditional church, every first Sunday of the month, rain or shine, people gather at 8 am on the rocks of Woodall Shoals, for a beautiful outdoor ministry. The sun rises, the guitars play, and people sing and pray and hear the Word.

Chattooga Belle Farm features it's own apple orchard, peaches, blueberries, blackberries, and other delicious fruits! They also have a store that sells many delicious jams, jellies, and other goodies. Chattooga Belle Farm has a gorgeous view of the mountains and a is a very popular wedding venue. They also have their own winery!

Located in the heart of Mountain Rest, this camp has been run and operated by the Gordon family since 1956. They offer over 30 activities, and have their own lake along with over 60 acres of private land. Camp Chatuga is a great summer camp for kids and you can choose from 12 different sessions for your child to enjoy.

Burrells Ford Campground

Primitive camping located in the Sumpter National Forest. Easy walk to camping area from the parking lot. Contains the access point to King Creek Falls walking trail.

Astronomy Club

  The Chauga Village Amateur Astronomers meet every fourth Thursday at 7pm at Mtn Rest Baptist Church, 9915 Highlands Hwy. Excellent programs. Members have access to NASA-funded Mtn. Rest Observatory. $25 dues. (864) 718-3998. 

Walking Track

Paved loop at Mtn. Rest Community Club on Verner Mill Rd. is well lit for night walkers. Nice grass area for Frisbee or dogs. Bring bag to scoop their poop. A little over three laps is a mile. FREE. 

5th Sunday Night Singing

Whenever there is a 5th Sunday in a month, everybody gathers at a church at 6 pm for singing. Anybody and everybody can get up and sing a favorite hymn or praise song. It is spontaneous; there is no agenda. The churches on the mountain rotate as hosts for the singing. Be there to sing or just listen! 

Meals Delivery

The churches on the mountain provide funds for meal delivery 5 days a week. Volunteers devote 2-3 hours and drive about 35 miles each time they deliver. This ministry is extremely rewarding and substitutes are available for days you can't deliver. We could always use more drivers, please call this number if you are interested 718-9190. 

Beekeeping

The Oconee County Beekeepers Association meets every 3rd Thursday upstairs in the Agriculture building, South Broad Street, Walhalla, at 6:30 pm. Bring a Potluck. Dues are $10. 638-5889. 

River Rafting

With the Chattooga River flowing through our area, there are several great options for fun including river rafting and tubing.

Fishing

If leisurely fishing is your "cup of tea" Mountain Rest is a great place to be! We are home to a hotbed of fishing spots! We're even home to the fish hatchery, which stocks our lakes and rivers with trout.
