Over the years, as club members cleaned or sorted storage closets, they'd discover boxes of fading newspaper clippings, programs & photos of past Hillbilly Days. In 2012, one board member (the late Mack Moore) asked how might these archives be both preserved & displayed.  And from this discussion came the   photo wall idea.

But it was Board member, Pat Allen who shouldered and developed the project. "Little did I know how involved it would become. After more than 60 years of Hillbilly Days, the photos had to all be sorted & divided into decades. At community potlucks, we'd  examine photos for facial recognition & name identification."

Sally Gravino & Sue Hardee recommended the black & white wall arrangement; John Morrey inscribed names to the identifiable photos; Pat Allen measured for wall spacing & pasted each photo. And finally ... these precious photos are covered with a transparent Plexiglas protectorate.  Thank you, Pat Allen for your vision & dedication. Without you, the photo wall project would not have happened.

Yet to be archived under Plexiglass are the historic Hillbilly Day newspaper clippings.

Monthly Potlucks

Every 3rd Saturday of the month we hold a potluck meal. These meals give club members a chance to "catch up" and have a some great conversations. It also gives the board members a chance to let the club members know what they have going on. Anybody is welcome, you do not have to be a club member to enjoy the meal. You can usually see a reminder for the meals on our sign located at the junction of Hwys 28 and 107.

JOIN THE CLUB! If you would like to join the Club all it costs is $5 a year per person, or $10 a year per family. You can either give your money to one of our board members or mail the payment to PO Box 24 Mountain Rest S.C. 29664.
